hello everyone.... could u plz solve this puzzle

farmer thimmayya bought some mules at Rs50 each.sheep at Rs 40 each.goat at Rs 25 each and pigs at Rs 10 each. the average price of the animals per head worked to Rs 30

how many animals of each kind did he buy?

Sol:

I don't know the right procedure to solve this Q but I tried with trial and error and got this as the answer.

The farmer should have bought 1 mule, 1 sheep, 2 goats and 1 pig.

1 mule + 1 sheep + 2 goats + 1 pig = 1(50) + 1(40) + 2(25) + 1(10) = Rs.150

Hence, the average price of the animals per head = 150/5 = Rs.30

Hope this is right. If someone else knows the exact procedure to go about this problem, please post it.

Best wishes,

An Infy aspirant
