3...James has come out of Jail after 6 years. When he was punished with imprisonment, his age was 5 times his son's age. Now, his age is 3 times his son's age. What was his age when his son was born?Ans: let Son's Age at the time of father's imprisonment as 'x'yrs. So father's age that time was '5x'. After 6 yrs his age should be (5x+6) and son's age should be (x+6). According to the given ststement father's age is 3 times son's age. So (5x+6) = 3(x+6) solving x = 6.So father's age that tim is (5x=30). Hence at time of his son's birth his age was (30-6 = 24yrs).

2...On a skating plane, Michel and Jennie are in a distance of a mile on each side of a point. They are going to skate to the direction of each other's. Jennie, having added force with the flow of the wind, skated two and one-half miles faster than Michel and beat her 6 minutes. What are the times taken by both of them?

ans: distance travelled by both Michel and Jennie = 1 mile

let speed of Michel = s

= > speed of Jennie = 5/2*s

let time taken by Michel to reach = t mins

= > time taken by Jennie = t-6 mins

dist travelled by Michel = s*t

dist travelled by Jennie = 5/2*s(t-6)

equalising the distances s*t = 5/2*s(t-6)

on solving t = 10

there fore Michel took 10 mins to reach the point

Jennie took 4 mins to reach the point

There is a truck, which contains 12 gallons of Fuel that comes for 300miles/hr. The driver has not seen the hole in it, and has taken that truck and drove for 4hrs after which the fuel was lasted. How much fuel was lost during the journey?Ans I have one procedure to solve this problem, check if it is right.Given that for each gallon he should cover 25 Km. Hence for each 12 gallons he should cover distance= 12*25=300KmBut he covered only 200 Km (at a speed of 50 Kmph and for 4 hr= 50*4=200Km)300-200=100Km, this much distance is uncovered. For 1gallon, he should cover 25 Km and and hence for 100 Km uncovered he needs 4 gallons, which is wasted.
