"The distance b/w 2 places is 1000 miles and a man has a camel which eats an apple/mile. He has 3000 apples and want to transport from one to another. Camel can take 1000 apples at a time. when reaching the destination how many apples will be with him? "

Hi,

My Solution will be two types

(1) Simple

(2) Some what logical

Simple:

Distance betwwn two places is 1000 places. and camel eats apple/mile. camel consumes 1000 apples at a time. So after reaching destination it will consume 1000 apples. so after reaching 1000 miles destination remaining apples will be 3000-1000. i..e, 2000 apples. so he will transport only 2000 miles.

Some what logical:

Let suppose the camel is hungry first. So it consumes 1000 apples at a time to get rid of starvation while journey. so it will eat 1000 apples. So man will have remaing 2000 apples with him to tranfer them to destination.

After carrying 1000 miles destination camel again will be hungry. Actually animals will not have bussiness mind and think about the food to get rid of starvation. It will eat 1000 apples for recouping energy for next possible 1000 miles. Infact its the destiantion point and no need of further journey.. its benifits to camel but not man. So on reaching destination the remaining apples with man are only 2000-1000 i..e, 1000 only.

I'm not sure whether both the answers are correct or not. But i hope so possibility for atleast one. so chetanites give me your valuable suggestions on my solution derivation.

Thanking you,

Hi buddy, Camel can carry 1 apple at a time, the dist is 1000 and it eats 1 apple for each mile.Suppose that it takes 1000 apples for the first time,it travels for 300 miles and drops 400 apples there,so remaining(300-Consumed+400-dropped=700)remaining 300,using this it returns back and again it takes back 1000apples(i.e;3000-2000=1000apples remainig at the starting position)for now. After travelling 300miles(700+takes those 300apples from the previously dropped place==1000) goes to some another 200 miles(1000-200=800 remaining)-Leaves 300 apples.Distance covered is 500-now with remaing 500 it goes back. For the last time it takes the remaining 1000 apples stops after 300miles takes (100 left at tht place-while in its first trip). It is having 800 goes to other 200 miles covering-500 miles(800-200=600) i.e; picks up the 300 apples left there, now its having (600+300=900) It still needs to travel other 500 miles surviving on 500 apples. So at the end while it reaches it will have(900-500=400) apples.Ohh My God such a long Journey.....Friend this is ma solution to this puzzle...try 2 understand tht..apples needed to transfer can not exceed 1000 if itis carrying 1000 apples it reaches the destination with empty pockets..(if the camel is having a poket,,juss kidding..)so ans cant be 1000 .This is my explanation for the previous answer.C ya ...dont get frustrated to read this.....u myt gain some fact from this...even though unfortunately if im wrong..(NO..im not) Babyee

Hi friends,

My answer may be funny but do spare some time to read it.....

I think the man transports all the 30000 apples........

bcoz it is not mentioned whether the man is traveling on a camel.

jst think it can also be correct

It is very Simple..Bit logic is involved..

For clear picture i have explained in 5 Cases, Here is the solution..

Source to Destination distance = 1000miles

1miles = 1apple

Intially,

Source = 3000 apples.

Case 1

First trip 1000 apples, Remaining 2000 apples.

Till 300 miles (consumed 600 apples tru & fro back now back to source) = It Dropped 400 apples there.

Case 2

Second trip 1000 apples, Remaining 1000 apples.

Till 300 miles (consumed 300 apples) = It Dropped 700 apples there + (Previously dropped 400 apples)

= 1100 apples.

If Camel will go back to the source to bring remaining 1000 apples we have to feed 300 apples so left out 800 apples.

Case 3

Third trip 1000 apples, No more apples remaining.

Till 300 miles (consumed 300 apples) = Remaining 700 apples + (Previously remaining 800 apples)

= 1500 apples

This is our second source, where we have 1500 apples left out.

Let us name as source-300

Still 700 miles to go, we left out with 1500 apples.

Case 4

Fourth trip 1000 apples from source-300 to another 200 miles, remaining 500 apples at source-300

Note:

800 apples is left out at source-500

When it will come back to 200 miles to take remaining 500 apples we have to feed 200 apples bcoz 200 miles.

Case 5

Now, Remaining 600 apples at source-500 + 500 apples from source-300 = 1100 apples

While coming again we have to feed 200 apples.

(1100-200) apples= 900 apples at source-500

Remaining apples at source-500= 900 apples, remaining 500 miles to go.

Now camel will carry all 900 apples and it will eat 500 apples bcoz 500 miles.

So left out Apples will be 400 apples..

Hence, when Camel reachs the destination the man will have 400 apples will be with hiM.

Hope there is no confusion & understood the solution..

Source to Destination distance = 1000miles1miles = 1appleIntially,Source = 3000 apples.step 1First trip 1000 apples, Remaining 2000 apples. Till 250 miles (consumed 500 apples to & fro back now back to source) = It Dropped 500 apples there.step 2Second trip 1000 apples, Remaining 1000 apples. Till 250 miles (consumed 250 apples) = Previously dropped 500 apples from tat we take 250 now.apples in hand =1000 from point 250 miles we travel another 250miles and drop 250 apples and return to starting point with an apple per mile to feed camel. step 3Third trip 1000 apples, No more apples remaining.Till 250 miles (consumed 250 apples) = Remaining 750 apples + (Previously remaining 250 apples) in 250 mile spot.taking this 250 apples and reaching 500 miles spot we ll have 750 apple in hand and 250 apple in the the spot.. from here we have to travel 500 miles and have 1000 aplles in hand.. camel consumes 500 for remaining 500 mile and we will reach the destination with 500 apple in hand.

In order to maximize the number of apples that is being transported, we have to consider the transportation in multiples of 1000. That is, after the end of each stage, the no. of apples should be in multiples of 1000. First Stage| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |0 166 1000Carry 1000 apples and leave 668 at the location 166. Repeat it thrice. At the end of the 2002 apples will be present at the location 166. Neglect 2 apples Second Stage| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |0 166 416 1000Carry 1000 apples from 166 and leave 500 at the location 416. Repeat it twice. Now thousand apples will be present at 416. Third stageCarry all 1000 apples and reach the destination. Thus we have transported 416 apples via this logic.

hi,

I am shubhendu satyam.

The answer will be 532 apples.

--------------------------------------------=============================-------------------------------------------00000000000000000000000000

solution:-

To move all 3000 apples to first 1 mile will take 5 apples consumption....so on to next 200 miles camel will eat 1000 apples.(2 full up and dowm and 1 up move)

after 200 miles travel, to move 1mile will take 3 apples consumption .....so on to next 334 miles ,camel will eat 1002 apples.(1 full up and dowm and 1 up move)

after travelling 534 miles, man have 998 apples.........to travel last 466 miles will take 466 apples out of 998...

Final , remaining apples will be 998-466=532 apples

If will able to understand .........reply me ................

according to me .the whole journey might be cascaded into3 parts ie 0 to 250 to 500 to 1000after that the man carries with him 1000 apples from 0 to 250.there he drops 500 and comes back to 0.again takes 1000 and drops 500 at 250 and comes back to 0.and finally he reach 250 with 750 apples.so total apples at 250 is 1750.he takes 1000 to 500 and drops 500 apples there.,goes back to 250 again takes the remaining 750 apples from 250 and goes to 500 .so total apples at 500 is 1000.now finally he makes to 1000 ie destination with 500 apples left .SO THE ANSWER WILL BE 500 APPLES.

Distance b\w 2 places is 1000 milesTotal no. of apples are 3000Camel EATS 1apple per mileBut condt. says camel CAN EAT 1000 apples at a time, so if we observe the question, we will find thatIf the "CAN EAT " condt. is not considered useful in the question, the answer will be simply 2000 apples.

1000 apples. Is that right?

step 1:we will take 1000 apples to 333 mile , camel eat 333 and keep remaining 667 apples there. And come back.step 2:we will take another 1000 apples to 333 mile, camel eat 333 and keep remaining 667 apples there. now totally we kept there 1334 apples. And come back.step 3:we will take another 1000 apples to 333 mile, camel eat 333 and keep 667 apples there. now totally we kept there 2001 apples. (till now we have travelled 333 miles)step 4:now from here take 1000 apples from 2001 apples and travel 500 miles, camel eat 500 and keep 500 apples there. and come back to previous position.step :5now from here take remaining 1000 apples and travel 500 miles, camel eat 500 and keep 500 apples there. here we have totally 1000 apples and we have totally travelled(333+500=833 miles)step 6:now we have to move 167 miles to travel and 1000 apples left with us. camel eat 167 apples and remaining 833 apples are reached to destination.so final answer 833 apples
