A Doubt

Hye, I am 4th year civil engineering student and I have been recruited in Cognizant in this March. I have a doubt whether non IT/ non CS students like me who did not even have Data Structure in our curriculum when compared to EEE/ECE/BME..etc; can a civil engerring background student prosper well in an IT firm. Though having said that I have started taking coaching in Java and have a brief knowledge in C programming. Also, why do IT firms of such magnitude absorb students from non IT/non CS streams.Please help because I am under a lot of confusion , and I am very much eager to do well in CTS itself and not consider myself in any core firms as my college is not allowing to sit for any other campussing. :unsure:Please give your honest opinions as it may draft my carrer.Thanx

In real it world whoever codes better stays in programmer level for many years, however whoever is better in communication becomes manager quicker.

It could be because of pay scale probably. Also, non IT graduates also can be trained for IT projects and even they ask for low packages compared to IT graduates. It's my personal opinion though.
